Hi to the forum,

I have Kontakt 5 now, and I am wanting to reinstall my Opus libraries, but when I go to the Legacy files I have a choice of Kontakt 2 programs or Kontakt programs, and I'm not sure which one's I use. Does anyone know  which Kontakt versions I should be using?

Thanks for any help I can get here on these two questions.

best,

Steve.

Hi Paul,

I'm just finally going to reinstall my Opus 1 library, but, I'm a bit unsure how to do this. I've downloaded the Kontakt 2 program, but when I open the installation disc there are two folders ; exs and Giga, and I'm not sure what I should do next.

Many thanks if you can guide me along here.

Hi Paul,

just a quick note that I am installing both the exs and Giga library so I can then work out which is the right one.

Hi Paul,

just another update - I think I have worked out how to install them and I'm using the exs folders. I just wanted to save you some time answering my post, now I believe I've discovered what I have to do for the install.

thanks and best regards,

Steve,

I hope you don't mind me jumping in on your thread as I'm considering doing the same. Paul's suggested that the info is in the manual, but I've looked at my manuals and I can't find how to ensure that Kontakt will see/read/use the samples. I'd gathered (from somewhere) that it's the EXS files that I should use, but I can't remember how I did it when I first got the Horizon Libraries Sad

Any chance of you sharing what you've discovered?

The worst thing is that I've obviously been through all this before years ago! I originally used the Gigastudio samples but I had horrendous stability issues with Gigastudio and I've not used it since. I'm on my 3rd or 4th computer since I last used my Horizon stuff, and I didn't even get to use them much as it wasn't long before the Special Edition came out and Horizon was almost forgotten.

However I think there's some really useful stuff in the Horizon collections which will supplement the SE - hence the desire to reinstall it again.

I also presume that the new computer will need to be authorised - but I'll be happy  to deal with that later on once the libraries are installed and are useable. Smile

Thanks,

John

Hi John,

well, so far I have worked out that the instruments and samples from the  exs folders are the ones that you extract the samples from to your computer har drive, and install them in  the order of instruments folder first,  and them samples.  Then you install the Opus 1 scripts and use these to load the samples in Kontakt.  Once you have loaded the instrument folders and the sample folders, and then the scripts, you open up Kontakt and go to the Opus 1 script files [the Kontakt 2 ones in your user area that you will need to inistall to the drive where the samles are on].  However, I am having some problems with  the loading of the files,  as they are not loading automatically, so this means I have not got my folders set up properly. and also, I'm  having to depress the top key of a section of keys that are highlighted in red on the bottom of the  Kontakt keyboard to get the legato samples to play back correctly before I start playing the loaded instrument, and I'm not sure what is causing this..  I'll see how I go in solving the problems and let you know what I did to solve them. I'm using the Full version of Kontakt 5 and the full one of Kontakt 2.

Hopefully, that will help you to get started with Opus 1 installation. Hope that is helpful.

best regards,

SteveSmile

Hi Steve,

Many thanks for getting back to me. It's very much appreciated.

What you say seems to make a lot of sense - and rings some distant bells in my memory. I'll have a go at installing Opus 1 tomorrow, following your advice and see what happens. I'll let you know how I get on, and we can compare notes. In the meantime good luck, with getting yours ironed out - fingers crossed. I'd appreciate an update on your progress too.

Many thanks once again,

John

Hi Steve,

I installed Opus 1 today, and I think I'm in the same position as you now - Kontakt (4 in my case) has to be helped to find the samples - by searching the database. Once found, they work ok in Kontakt though.

I'm not sure where I should have installed the Scripts. at present they're in a folder on my desktop and I get them to work by dropping them into the Kontakt interface - that can't be right!Embarrassed

I'll have another play around abnd see if I can improve things before I install Opus 2 and the rest of the Horizon stuff.

Have you made any progress?

Best,

John

Hi again Steve,

I've done a bit more messing around and I think it's sorted! Big Smile

I installed everything as per the instructions into a folder I named OPUS 1. In that folder therefore there is the INSTRUMENTS folder and the SAMPLES Folder.

All I did to get it working properly in Kontakt was to extract the Opus 1 scripts into the OPUS 1 folder (above). That adds another folder in ther called K2 INSTRUMENTS.
Almost everything works now - the exception being the 'bonus' files which I know were installed but are not being found. I'll update again if I find a solution to that.

Hope that helps!

Best wishes,

John.

Hi John,

well, that sounds good that you have got things going really well.  I will see how I go and maybe get some more installed at the end of the week maybe.

I'm please to see that you have done well with the folders in the right places! That sounds great!

best,

Hi Steve,

I think I spoke too soon! I have got things in what I think are the right places, and I can see them all and access them ok from the File Menu in Kontakt. Unfortunately they don't show in the Database view. Looks like this is a common problem according to Google - and there seems to be a definite lack of Youtube fixes/tutorials that would help. The problem I had with the 'Bonus' Files was that I'd somehow not extracted them at all! I have done since and they're recognised and playable.

Biggest problem now for me is finding my Kontakt manual to see if it gives any clues as to how to make the structure appear as Kontakt wants it.

Hope yours is coming on ok.

Regards,

John

Hi John,

my apologies that I have not got back to you sooner - well, I have not got back to installing any more of Opus 1, but hopefully I will get around to it. Well, I do hope you manage to sort out that problem you mentioned.

Thanks for filling me in with your progress!

No problem Steve. I've not done much more either! I'd rather have things show up in thedatabase but I can load everything through the file menu - it just doesn't look as neat etc. Need to do a bit more research on Kontakt!

Regards,

John
