Hello, I have an issue I was hoping the community could help with:
In the past I've used Pro Tools as a host and was able to send MIDI data to multiple MIDI ports of a single VE Pro 5 server instance. I'm now trying to do the same thing with either Reaper or Logic. I believe I read somewhere the Logic can't access multiple MIDI ports of a virtual instrument because of an AU limitation. What about Reaper? I'm not seeing a way to access more than one MIDI port (so only 16 MIDI channels) with Reaper either.
Does anyone know if it can be done?
Thx, Robert

I believe I've found the answer to my question - Reaper doesn't support VST3, which is apparently necessary to access multiple MIDI ports on a VSTi. Apparently RTAS does have support for multiple MIDI ports, which is why I was able to do this in Pro Tools. I'm hoping somebody will prove me wrong...

Hi, That´s correct, only VST3 and RTAS offer multiple MIDI ports. Sorry to have no better news. Best, Paul

You can add a Vienna Ensemble Event Input VSTi to a new track. That thing allows you to connect to additional MIDI ports on Vienna Ensemble. It's not very clear in the manual but when I went back and read it for the 15th time I finally realized that's what you need to do.
If you have VST3 apparently you don't need to do that, but for DAWs that don't support that, the Event Input is the perfect solution.
It has no audio output - all the audio comes out of the first instance.
