I am wanting to run (PC win7) Drum Kit Superior from my DAW (Cubase 6.5) below is work flow of Drums

Load SD2 in Cubase > Seperate drums on different channel (Kick Snare Toms
OH etc) .> run plugins on each track > sub mix to 1 Stereo channel in
cubase > insert Vienna pro Audio input on Drum Sub Group - select audio
input 5/6 > On MIR set output  to separate channels, example is Imperial Grand, 1-2 Trumpet 3/4, Superior 5/6, Trillian 7/8 etc

The Drums coming off stereo out into MIR are way out of time with the all
other instruments in MIR. Sounds like my drummer fell down the stairs lol...I
am wondering if anyone else has this issue or if there is a solution for this?
When running drums through just Cubase there are no timing issue just doesn't sound as good

I know I can run Superior inside of MIR but would prefer to do this one
instrument in Cubase and out it to MIR. Superior does not remember preset when
reloading inside of MIR so it presents issues when I make edits etc. Also work flow is easier exporting as Stereo track to MIR.

Please let me know if I haven't included enough info or have been unclear as
to workflow or issue. In this project I am using Trillian/VEP5/Mir/Vienna Imperial Grand/ Superior 2.3/5 Vienna Cube Horns/Win7 computer

FWIW I'm working on a similar project right now and am having no problems with SD in MIR Pro. Regarding the SD sample loading bug: SD will recall the samples/routing as long as you are running decoupled.

Your drummer may be out of time because of his location in the room. I'm currently doing this Broadway thing, and I noticed that if I place the drummer too far back in the hall the time gets quite obscured. I'm using the Vienna ORF Studio 2 v2 which is relatively dry, and I still have most of the ensemble huddled right around the main mic. Hope that helps.

Hi Kenny,

I was hoping to see a fellow user chiming in with similar experiences like yours, because I can't figure a good reason that could cause your problem  - sorry to say so.

@ mohurwitzmusic: Within MIR, the timing of the dry signal should not be affected by the distance from the Main Microphone. Please let me know if you get different results.

Kind regards,

I dropped a note to support and they were able to reproduce the issue and hand me a solution. I started using the UAD precision MultiBand compressor on different drum channels. Bernd was able to let me know that was what caused the latency issue.

I then contacted UAD to ask if there was a solution and Per UAD the MultiBand adds about 11ms of delay on track and is meant for mastering only where the latency is not an issue. The analogy used was the Precision MultiBand is an 800 pound gorilla and if it is used inside of DAW or inside of VEP5 it is still an 800 pound gorilla :)  and adds the latency. The odd part was that it only happens when running through VEP5 but not noticeable in Cubase mixer.

Bernd suggested I might try using multiband inside of VEP5 instead of DAW but UAD told me it will still be a gorilla and will still add the same latencyl. Best option is just not to use that plugin on track....

Thanks again to you Dietz and really Bernd sorry to make you jump through hoops for a situation that was caused by something working the way it should. I never did find the latency issue in any documentation at UAD site but was lucky enough to find help there that confirmed Bernd's findings.

Hi Dietz,

Sorry, what I meant was that the ambience MIR (or any reverb) adds can sometimes make the time appear a bit "washy". It's just like when you go see a real jazz philharmonic in any large venue. The drums and rhythm section often sound muddy because of the reverberance of the hall. For me, having more dry sound and less room tightens things up, at least when a tight groove is critical to the track. I'm not sure if that's what the OP was referring to; though it sounds like he is having some techincal issue, wheras what I was referring to is an aesthetic one.

Best
