  • VE PRO 5, inserting a second audio input plugin doesn't work ?

Hi I have 2 tracks in a big Cubase 5.5 project, I want to send them to VE Pro client in a slave computer an then listen to them back in the main computer.

I insert 1 audio input plugin, I assign it to the slave computer with audio input 1/2, and create an input track in the slave selecting audio input 1/2 and output 1/2, and I can listen back to that track in Cubase on the output 1/2 of the VE Pro server interface in the main computer, but there is a big delay in the audio, maybe it's a latency problem.

Then I insert a second audio input plugin in the second track to do the same and route everything to inputs 3/4 and outputs 3/4, BUT when I insert it the audio from the first track stops, then I set up the inputs and outputs for the second track, I can listen to the second track in the output 3/4 of the VE Pro server, but the first track has still no sound.

Then when I bypass the audio input plugin in the second track, I can listen to the first track again from ouput 1/2 on VE Pro server interface.

Any idea where this come from ?

Then if I press stop when both audio input plugins are activated, when I hit play again, I have no sound from these tracks. If I bypass the audio input plugins and put it back on I can listen to the second track, but still no first track.

I'm on Windows 7 64 bits with VE Pro 32 bit instances.

I tried it several times with audio tracks, instrument tracks, it's the same, I tried permuting the audio routing ie sending first track to audio input 3/4, and second track to audio input 1/2, still I can hear the second track on the output 1/2 of the VE Pro server but not the first track, and when I bypass it, I can listen to the first track again.

This is in a pretty big project in Cubase with latency set to 2048 samples in my RME Babyface.

    Thanks for your help.

Edit: I tried on an empty project with just two audio tracks and everything works fine with 256 samples latency or 2048, no issues at all, so the problem is related to the project. Where could it come from?

  • This sounds like an issue that used to be in a rather old version of VE Pro 5. Are you using the latest version?

  • I'm having this same issue with VEP 5.2.12794 and Cubase 7.0.6 (on MacOSX 10.8.5). Can't use more than 1 Audio Input per VEP Instance, or the audio gets distorted, or just disappears. Happens with both the VST3 and VST2 versions of the Audio Input plug-in and VEP5. Haven't found any resources or answers on this issue online, can anyone help me out?

  • Just updated to the latest version of VEP5. Did not fix the problem.

  • Hello antoniopandrade,

Did you try with different latency settings yet?

Also, what is your setup (CPU, RAM, soundcard, computer model....)?

    Best,

  • Yes Paul, I've tried using 256 and 512 as my audio interface's buffer and went from 2 to 4 layers on VEP's buffer, nothing seems to improve / solve the issue. I'm running a Mac Mini Server late 2011 (quad 2.0) w/ 16GB of ram as my sequencer computer w/ Cubase 7.0.6 on Mountain Lion and my slave is a 3930k i7 w/ 64 GB of ram running Win7 64bit. My audio interface is an MBox 3 Pro, connected via Firewire.
