Hi all,

sorry for my French translated by Google!
Here is my VSL (purchased and installed in 2004 on a G5 2x2, 5 Ghz)
I want to reinstall my VSL on a recent Mac, or even new. How do I do? What software and what hardware?

I want to use my VSL EXS simply with if it still exists in Logic 9 (?!)
I just want update, not upgrade if possible!
Thank you for your help

Xavier

Hello Aristote797,

Unfortunately, Apple has completely dropped the support of our Performance Tool with the release of Logic 9.1 64-bit and there will be no further development for our legacy products from our side either.
All non-performance patches will play normally, though.

Also, please be aware of the fact, that some modes of the Performance Tool (i.e. Alternation and Repetition), although fully functional, can currently still not really be edited since Logic Pro 8 - this is beyond our influence!

Basically, the problem affects the visual feedback of the Tools interface, which makes it impossible to edit its settings.

So if you launch Logic 9 in 32-bit(!), loading and playing previously saved or default EXS patches should actually work as before, only editing the Performance Tool is affected.

And especially as far as the Legato mode of the Performance Tool is concerned, everything in fact works as expected in Logic 9 32-bit(!).

You can download the last version of the Performance Tool from https://vsl.co.at/en/68/427/157/164/58.htm

But if you by any chance use Kontakt 2 (or higher) as well, I can offer to add free sidelicenses for your Horizon Libraries (Overdrive, Epic Horns, Solo Strings & Glass & Stones) in Kontakt Format to your account - the special Kontakt programs we provided for all our Horizon Libraries do not require the Performance Tool anymore, but rather make use of Kontakts own scripting abilities.

Please let me know if this would help you!

Unfortunately, the Pro Edition has never been ported to Kontakt format, so there is not much I can do here...

Best, Marnix

Thank you Marnix.

I waiting for a friend in France must translate for me your message. I want to be sure I understood everything!

Then I have to think about the best solution for me.

See you soon

Dear Marnix

Until I find a new solution interesting, here is my question :

I'm still working on my G5 PowerPC Mac os 10.5.8. Can I install the tools Performance etc on my hard drive under this system ?

And additional question :

Is there a way to recover EXS manager Pro (which was downloaded on my old hardrive). Of course all my sounds are already merdged on external drives, but I have to redo the link between Instruments and Samplemerdged.

Thank you Marnix

Best regards

Aristote

Hello Aristote797,

Yes, you can of course install the Performance Tool with MacOS 10.5.8

I am sorry to say, that I cannot tell you anything about Redmaticas EXS Manager, except that it seems Apple has actually acquired the entire company...

Good news for a re-installation in my G5

Bad news for EXS !

Excuse me… bad news for me ! But maybe not for the compagny EXS !

Best regards

Marnix, could you offer the same solution for my Horizon Libraries? Do I understand correctly that if I have the Kontakt sidelicense for my libraries I will be able to use them within Kontakt without the performance tool and I will no longer need the EXS-24 sampler within Logic?

Thank you for your consideration.

Hello Sally,

Sure, no problem - I have just added sidelicenses for your 3 registered Horizon Libraries to your account!

Best, Marnix
