  • Dimension Strings

WOW - the violin-demos of this library sounds amazing, congratulation!! I was really sceptical if one would get the ensemble sound with individally recorded instruments, but you nailed it!

...How long will the introducary offer be avaiable??

    Greetings,

    Patrik

  • The MP4 video seems corrupt. It keeps quiting here (10.6.8) in quicktime.

  • The video works in OS 10.7 - only just...it's definitely faulty.

    Dimension Strings - WOW.

These will need lots more work but they sound incredible.

    Thanks VSL team !!!

  • Yes, the real question is how long will the Early Bird offer last? Best, Jeff Strong

  • Thanks Herb and VSL Team,

Great expressiveness and detail! Looking forward to hearing the other new products as they arrive.

    Congrats on this Herculean effort!

    .

  • I have been waiting for (and expecting) this. Congrats!

Con sordino, flautando and all the other stuff missing in 2014? :-) Not that this won't be more than enough to fiddle with for the next two years ... I respect VSL being discrete about their new projects. But, as I have to decide on wether to settle on that horse or not and Herb speaking in the interview about new stuff being recorded, I think it would be fair to know, if the collection will be expanded after the full sections come out - even beyond having a con sordino volume. Hence, my number two in the list flautando, just because I think this particular sound would be killer with that kind of control.

  • Also I would like to know how long the early bird offer will last.

    Thx

    Gabriel

  • I totally agree with this. Also, what about Natural Harmonics? Regardless, I am incredibly happy about this new library. I hope the Early Bird offer lasts until at least the end of the month.

  • VSL writes about the Early Bird Offer:

"Here are the future full prices, effective once all four string sections are available:

    Standard Library EUR595
    Extended Library EUR595
Full Library (= Standard + Extended Library) EUR1,190"

I think the offer is available until 2013!

The Vienna Dimension Strings seems to be fantastic!! I have to try out!

  • Not a bad deduction! I hope that's how long it lasts! I just hope they give us a definitive answer about the time limit.

+1. BTW, is there a way to demo this before buying?

  • I asked about a demo license today....apparently not :(

  • I'm downloading Dimension Strings now. I have a fast 30 Mbps line, but the VSL servers are not taking advantage of it. Getting only 140 kB/sec. That is slow. At this rate will take 3 days. Should be no more than a few hours. Anything you guys can do on your end to speed this up?

Great library, BTW. Didn't care for the demo, but could tell from the video that the strings sound great!

  • I've now watched the video a couple of times, and whilst I find some of the tone a little strident, I don't think that it's something I can't deal with fairly easily. I also think that it's so cheap that I should just get it anyway. In some respects it might replace Chamber Strings in my template, as that Collection is often used for layering with Appassionata (and Orchestral at times), and I think that DS will probably do a better job.

  • Hopefully more audio demos of Dim-Strings will be posted in the near future !

Thanks VSL for moving forward to the next Gen. Strings libraries with your new Vienna Dimension Strings .

I look forward to purchase them in the next few days.  But ...more audio & video demos would help me better evaluate them, and take advantage of your early bird special.

    Cheers,

    Muziksculp

  • Hi to the forum,

just one question here - the download says 33.6 GB, for the standard version and for the extended. I'm trying to guess that the 33.6 GB is for the complete library, standard and extended, just as you would get on a DVD, and that if you paid for the standard version only, you still get the extended in the download, so you can access it immediately once you had paid for the extended library. Am I correct here?

Thanks if someone can let me know.

    best,

    Steve[:)]

  • VSL - is there an alternate download link for dimension strings? Been downloading for hours and only about 3% downloaded so far...thx.

It's going at the speed of an old dial-up modem!!!

  • My impressions:

At first glance of the 'Interview with Herb' I read the bit about a Violin II section and though "ARE YOU NUTS!?!?" However, As sad as as it was to read that, I figure the Chamber Violin section of 6 players is more than adequate so long as it blends well (which I imagine it will knowing the quality of everything VSL produces).

I was also disappointed in the size of the ensemble to begin with. But I think for VSL it was the wisest choice (just not my own preference). With that in mind, this is still what everyone has wanted and I'll definitely be buying. How soon depends on the length of the early bird offer. I REALLY REALLY REALLY.... REALLY hope that it's through the end of the year, or at very LEAST through the end of October/November timeframe. End of year would be greatly appreciated though.

    I'm so excited! [:D]

  • Bump on this slow download issue. Now it's saying 3 days. Can you provide an alternate link? Thanks.

I think that the point is that as you can easily ensure that the 1st and 2nd Violins don't sound the same, so there won't be the same issue that there were with previous Violin products. I'm planning on putting my Chamber Strings into semi-retirement...!
