  • MIR for grand piano?

Any hints about how people are using MIR for grand pianos?

So far I've found the Grand Piano Chamber in the Hybrid Reverb unbeatable.

Actually, I've found a lot of the presets in that reverb unbeatable. It's just great - both the quality and the programming.

  • Nick,

I think Grand Pianos are handled on an individual case by case basis depending on which room you're in, in MIR

You didn't say if you were using MIR, so I'll speak as though you are not.

Each room has it's own natural adjustable reverb. The Bosendorfer is the least processed Instrument in my workflow.

I like adding Tails with Convolution Reverb.

I've never tried the Grand Piano Chamber in the Hybrid Reverb but it appears to sample the Mozart Saal.

Would you use that reverb in the much larger Grosser Saal?

  • I'll have to try it in the Grosser Saal.

And yes, my question was specifically about MIR, and really about any grand other than the VSL Bösendorfer (I don't have that one, but presumably MIR knows enough about it to make it work better). I'm just curious about settings people are using to make pianos good in MIR; using other reverbs is a separate discussion.
