  • VIPRO2 / VEPRO5 - converting templates to work from previous version of VEPRO5 & old VI

Hey everyone - so... am I being really dumb here?

I have finally come up for air between projects and thought - I know I'll do my upgrades now...havent been using VSL libraries extensively a lot recently but thought I would get everything nice and up to date... so - latest version of VEPRO5 - donwlaoded and installed - done.   I then go to load a logic template session to check everything is ok - and I get the dialogue box telling me I need to upgrade to VI PRO to integrate the VI into the ensemble sessions (as the old VI is now no longer supported - correct?)  - sure no probs - I go and buy the upgrade & install - all good.   I then quit everything, reload VE PROS servers and Logic - then I  go to load my logic template (which of course always automatically loads the VI templates into VEPRO - well the ensemble patch loads the mixer / instrument names etc....but I was (foolishly it seems) expecting the VI instamces to simply port themselves into VIPRO2...but it isnt... at this point I start to think... 'oh dear'

so....have I just fallen down a giant rabbit hole or is there something I can do to make the old template load / convert into the new software (vepro5 / VIpro2) or do I have to start from scratch again...(surely not start from scratch - he says - hopefully!)  any help greatly appreciated...

    Many thanks - Paul

BTW:  mac 12 core main system / mac 8 core slave - latest versions of LOGIC / VSL / EW ....everything all up to date

    Hi PaulM,

Sorry to hear about these troubles.

The simple solution: Please install the latest version of VIENNA INSTRUMENTS (non-pro), and everything will work.

The background: All VSL sample players (VI, VI PRO, Imperial) now have to be installed separately to appear in Vienna Ensemble PRO. This gives us and you more flexibility. You will also like the introduction to the new VI interface, videos are available here.

So it actually was not necessary to upgrade to VI PRO (you mis-read the message), but I´m sure you won´t regret it.

Please check out the video tutorials for VI PRO here.

Sorry for the confusion, this is a one-time transition that was necessary after all those years!

    Best,

    Paul

  • ahhh thank you Paul - (good to hear from you again!)

I am downloading and trying the latest version of VI PRO to get the template back to workable - and, now that I have bought it - I will start to populate - (with some tweaks) - the new VI PRO instance - I am sure it will be great.

Thanks for the quick response - always appreciated..

    Cheers - Paul

  • Hi Paul,

Good plan. You should definitely install VI nevertheless, then use the "Convert to VI PRO" option in the VE PRO menu.

Of course you can always start from scratch with VI PRO (makes sense with auto-humanize and many more features). Anyway, give yourself some time to get to know all these new features!!
