  • VE PRO 5 takes a long time to see MAC Mini on server

Hello, I'm setting up a new workstation, main computer is a MAC PRO 10.7.5 using DP 8.01 and I have to 2 new MAC Minis (2.3 GHz, i7, 16GB) running 10.8.1 and connected to it via a Gigaswitch. I'm just doing preliminary tests here but when I try to connect to them from VE PRO in DP I see other computers on my network but these 2 take about 10 minutes to show up. Then later I look at the plugin again and the MAC Mini aren't in the list anymore but sound can still triggered. thanks

  • Upgrading to 10.8.2 seems to have solve the problem.

  • How are getting round the monitors / 2 x minis situation.. using apple remote to view both mac minis on the same screen ( or something else) - or does each unit have a dedictaed screen?

    P

  • Yes Paul, screen sharing from the main computer, it works great. In a static template setup, once they are setup you can forget about them.

  • Actually I'll take that back that connection probelm is still there.

When I first boot my computer, the template won't load the preserve instance because it doesn't see my Mac Minis. They are online and connect directly to the MAC Pro via a gigaswitch. They show up in the window after about 5 minutes then I have to manually re-connect the slaves.

Any ideas how to fix this?

  • Yes I'm having a very similar problem, Leopard on my Mac Pro and Lion on the Mac Mini slave.  I've never had the patience to wait 10 minutes for them to show up.

But, I'm connected to the internet on a separate router than the LAN network I use for midi and audio.  As soon as I unplug the second ethernet cord from my computer (and disable internet) I immediately see the perserved instances.

It's not a complete fix of course, I'm still trying to find a fix for that, but its a start.
