  • Jazz drums in MIR Pro

There will ever be a preset for Jazz drums in MIR Pro?

What should be the best way to integrate it?

  • Dear Sergino,

VSL Jazz Drums are a very special case, and I have not found a uniformly useful way of integration into MIR Pro yet. What works perfectly in one context sounds weird in another ...

Personally I would suggest to use General Purpose Profiles for either the single instruments or the whole set and tune position, width and rotation according to your needs.

    Kind regards,

  • How about the single spoken voice?  So far, I almost have to cut the wet signal out completely, or it's boomy.  What are other people's other experience with a solo voice?

Tom, that doesn't come as a surpirse. In a real hall, you wouldn't record spoken words from a distance of five, ten or even twenty meters either. That's what spot (a.k.a. close) microphones are used for.

MIR Pro is simply a virtual representation of a typical recording situation. You have the main microphones for the overal imaging and spatial impression, and you have individual spot mics for definition and intelligibility. In MIR Pro, the level of the virtual spot mic is controled by the Wet/Dry-ration of an MIR Icon on a stage. It's quite clear that you will have to change that ratio considerably to achieve the effect of a close voice in a big space.
