  • VSl SE, VC-8 pizz Patch sounds weird to me at F4 (high velocity)

I have a strange sounding note in the Special Edition's Cellos Pizzicato Patch. The note is F4 (F above middle C) - only the high velocity layer. Anyone else having the same problem, or is this a weird behavior on my system only?

    Thanks for any suggestions

    Peter

  • Yep.  Happens for me also.  String buzz.

  •  If you mean the undamped resonance at about 1.3KHz on that note, then yes it is there.  If you really want to get rid of it,  then use an EQ with a very narrow Q, and cut 1.3KHz as much as you can.  (Vienna Suite EQ, with a Q of 10 and gain of -24dB does the trick), it doesn't affect the rest of the notes much at all.

Also, you could reduce the RELEASE on the envelope slightly (making sure you play staccato).

These are only work arounds, to counteract how the cello was performed when recorded.

The VC-8 Pizz Vib (extended library) doesn't exhibit this resonance though.

  • Thanks for the info. Sounded like a resonance to me, but wanted to be sure nothing messed on my system.
