  • Will VE Pro check for updates automatically?

Just upped to v5 the other day. Upon launching the app for the first time, I was greeted with a message saying there was a newer version. The process for doing the install of the update worked really well, but here is the thing - I do not want VE Pro to inform me of an update automatically. I see where you can check manually, but what I do not see is anywhere in the prefs to turn auto updates on or off.

    Thanks in advance.

  • Hello Jeff,

70% of our support mails are resolved with a simple update of our software products, which is why we decided to include the update check.

May I ask: Why wouldn´t you want to be informed that a new version exists?

  • Hi Paul, thanks for the response.

The update check is fine; it's actually a good idea. But not giving users the option to turn it off is a not a good idea.

When I get started in the morning, I power on my master computer and two slaves. VE Pro is set to launch with Windows on the two slaves. So from my master, I just launce Cubase, and go ahead and load yesterday's project, or my template, knowing that I can do so without doing anything on either of my slaves. Simple and easy.  I don't even turn the monitor on for the slaves; no need to. The last thing I want is to load my project on my master, and start playing, only to not hear anything coming from my slaves - because the viframe didn't load due to an update check.

    Does that make sense?

  • +1 to Jeff's comment - I'm in eactly the same boat.  I boot up my slaves and never look at them, so having a dialog box sitting there waiting for a response is a big pain.  Projects hang when you try to load them...

Please provide the option to disable the update check.  I'm surprised there aren't more comments about this - lots of folks never touch their slaves.  This behavior forces us to do so.  It's annoying!  Stop it!  :)

  • Hi,

This is already implemented in the next VE PRO update. It will be available after the tests are finished.
