Pardon can't see a direct comparison of horizon series to the downloadable single instruments.

How would Horizon Viennese Oboe/EH compare to the single instruments ?

How would OPUS 1/2 Flute compare to the single flute ?

Are single instruments playable with keyswitches and modwheel ?

Thank you or please direct me to a page i may have missed !

L

That's because Horizon and Opus are much older versions, long since discontinued.

The download single insturments (basic + extended) are as complete as anything availble in any of the larger collections.  Yes, keyswitches and any other controler you want to use.  That part is totaly configurable.

Thank you, I will still use the horizon sets but aim to add more.

As Bill says, the Horizon titles are old products configured for GigaStudio and EXS24. However, when VSL abandoned those formats they reconstructed the Horizon series exactly as new Vienna Instruments libraries - so the Viennese oboe and English horn in Woodwinds II www.vsl.co.at/en/211/442/412/356/223.htm are the same as in the old Horizon title.

Opus 1 & 2 were Giga / EXS budget compilations, the instruments in them were missing some articulations.

I posted some info about single instruments here http://community.vsl.co.at/forums/t/34306.aspx. If you buy their Single & EXtended libraries, they are apparently identical to the full DVD versions.

abandoned is the right word.

They abandoned Horizon Series.  That's when I abandoned the Vienna Library because they stuck me with several volumes ($$$) of unsupported instruments with no upgrade path.  Hate it when software companies do that.

At least get your facts right. The products were supported for a long time and there was an upgrade path. You just chose not to avail yourself of it.

You are right, it was a while ago and I don't know if you are speaking for the company or are just a user of the products but I don't remember any direct communication from the company telling me about the discontinuation of the Horizon Series and about the upgrade path  that was available.  I'm a registered user, it should have been easy enough to do.  I'm sorry that I wasn't aware of the discontinuation within the 'window' that was granted for an upgrade. Was it a true upgrade or a discount to buy into premium products?  Also, why does an upgrade path disappear?  In my opinion, based on my user experience, the Horizon Series phase-out was botched leaving me now with virtually unusable (expensive) instruments.

Out of repect for these forums I will not comment further publically.
