    Hi,

Rameau is certainly one of the biggest genius of baroque (and i don't say that because he was french [:P]), with unique style and "sound" you can recognize between thousand composers ...

He composed many operas, some with great storm scenes. Here is the storm scene of his last opera, "Les Boréades". For special effects, because i don't find any sample of wind machine or thunder plate, i did with what i found on the net ... [<:o)][:$]

Put you rain coat, open your umbrella and enjoy !!! [um]

Suite de svents - Les Boréades

    Best.

  • Interesting, kind of sounds like vivaldi here ... very nice phillippe. Thank you

  •  that one sounds really good Philippe.  You're right Rameau is a great composer.

  • You've done a great job with this, thanks for posting! As for personal preference, I'd add a bit more attack when the violins do their hits (like at 1:47) because they sound a little bit sterile to my ears, but then again everything sounds a bit sterile to my ears so take that with a grain of salt. Personally I agree and I find Rameau much more fun than a lot of other Baroque composers, who aside from Bach tend to bore me.

  • Hi Phillipe,

The thing I like about Rameau are the titles he gives to many of his works leaving me to wonder if those show insight to the good taste and other merits of his age & culture.

Very good recording once more Phillipe, although I had the feeling that some of the flute runs sounded a bit detached non organic.

    Thanks,

     Martijn

  • Hi Philippe,

I miss listening to your classical performances here at VSL :-) Today, I'm having a little spare time, and I've seen that you have a new soundcloud account full of new mock-ups (I'm actually listening right now to your wonderful work on Bach's third Brandenburg Concerto). So, this comment is not only for your Rameau, but for all the masterpieces you performed on VSL instruments so far: thank you very much; it's truly a very inspiring work... and it gets better and better (it's just a year ago that we were taking about this and that articulation, and the full potential of VSL instruments???)

I wish I have some time in 2013 to get back to work, and I'm able to contribute to your classical collection with some pieces.

     Best regards from Spain,

    Servando

PS: Wow... I'm listening to some BRILLIANT C.P.E. Bach now. It seems that I've missed more than I thought...!!

  • Hi,

@all : Thanks for listening and you feedbacks, always much appreciated.

@Servando : i'm very glad to see you again on the forum. We miss you ! I hope you will find little time to post again your work on the forum !

    Best.

    Phil
