  • Time table for Dimension Strings?

well, it's 2013 now... it would really be helpful to have some kind of calendar date for the promised dimension strings release. as vsl is not apple i think it's no danger to give some status information to us :-) thanks in advance - saxer

  • When it comes to the announcement of things to come, VSL is Apple!

  • but i already payed for it :-)) that doesn't even happens with apple...

  • Sorry, that I don't want to announce any release dates right now.  Generally everything is going well and I could announce a spring release for the cellos.

BUT, we have major quality controls for the edited and mapped samples in front of us. When we detect any quality problems during testing, this can delay a release for weeks in worst case for some months.  At least this was our experience with the Violins which needed one more year than initially planned. So this no official release announcement!

However the cellos are not so different than the violins, so I'm very confident that we don't have these kind of delays.  On the other hand unexpected problems can always popup. Thanks for understanding.

It's a pity that I can't share my impressions on how the cellos already work right now. That would be unfair and makes it even harder for you to await the release.

  • thanks for that statement... sounds good something happens and things are growing!

  • Yes, thanks Herb. I would rather read a post like this than just silence.

  • .. actually i'm quite glad the rest of dimension strings aren't out yet.. they would wrack my 2008 mac pro ;)

so.. with a new pro machine coming end of the year i'll be set for the full package.. i hope ;)..

    you know.. the lemon/lemonade story..

Honest statement, and makes me even more confident in vsl products. What ever you guys are coming up with, it has "Hand und Fuß" as we say in germany. 😊 Thanks a lot!

  • yepp... and sometimes it's also very useful to know what you don't have (now). just for choosing the right tools for upcoming projects.

  • I really appreciate VSL's (and others like Spectrasonics) approach to releasing new products. Get it right, release it, and let it speak for itself.

I haven't wanted to rain on anyone's parade over at Vi Control but I find it really tiresome when developers try to use forums to whip potential buyers into a frenzy then attempt to relentlessly manage all public comment and stifle any possible negativity. I have to say in all honesty as the proud owner of Dimension, Solo and Chamber Strings, VI Pro and MIR PRO (plus SE Orchestral) I just don't get what all the euphoric adoration is about over there at the moment. I must be deaf or something....

  • When the cellos do come out, you can use them with DS Violins ala Bernstein in West Side Story where he omitted violas from the instrumentation.
