  • [SOLVED] Routing Question

Hello everyone! I'm a user of both Cubase and Vienna Ensemble Pro, and I'd like to know if there is a way for me to apply the insert effects in Cubase (the ones that ONLY appear in Cubase) to instruments that are hosted in Vienna Ensemble Pro. If I cannot do this, then I have to host some of my plugins within cubase itself so that the effects can be applied. I'd rather have all sounds be hosted within Vienna Ensemble Pro if possible. Is there a way to send effect inserts from Cubase TO a stereo out in VEP? EDIT: I think that I'm over-thinking this.

  • Usually you would put such insert effects on the outputs of the VE Pro plugin in Cubase. It's also possible to use the VE Pro Audio Input plugin to send audio to a VE Pro instance for further processing. See the VE Pro 5 manual for more details.

  • Thanks. Also, the Vienna Ensemble Pro manual doesn't go too in depth into how to use the event input. There's a small blurb on one or two pages. Where else can I find more information about how I can use the event input in the way that I need to use it?

  • there is no reason to use 'event input' in Cubase. that exists for people with sequencers that don't support VST3, a workaround for the lack of multiple midi ports. the audio input plugin is something else. all you need to do is instantiate that as an effect, either as an FX channel or as an insert.

(in 'Other' there is the VST3 version of 'Vienna Ensemble Pro Audio Input'.)

  • Thank you for clarifying. It's too bad that I can't use Cubase's effects within Vienna Ensemble Pro, though this is a given (built-in plugins and whatnot.) Anyway, my problem is solved. Thanks again!
