  • K4 to K5 in Vepro ?

    Dears all,

I know it's technically impossible but just try to ask :

One of my mac slaves (os x 10.6.8) running VePro featuring some K4 is dead so i have purchased a new one (os x 10.8.x) and i think it's just possible to run K5 so obviuosly Vepro is not loading the patches cause K4 it's not installed.

Is there any workaround to force K5 to load the previous K4's patches ?

I have tried to reload manually and it obviously work but i'm on a long time project and i need to reopen some cues made months ago.

    Any suggestion ?

    Thanks in advance.

  •  Just to clarify,  as to what is K4 & K5?

Presumably this is Native Instruments Kontakt 4 and Kontakt 5 you are referring to?

  • Yes i'm talking about Kontakt v4 and v5.

  •  I don't have Kontakt 5,  but certainly in the past every new version of Kontakt reads the previous (but not the other way around though). So all my K3 patches would be readable by K4,  so I would be really sure that all K4 patches would be readable by K5.

Or is it a slightly different problem,  that VE Pro will not load Kontakt 5 itself,  because it is looking for Kontakt 4?

Or maybe it is just the default locations of things on your hard drive are in different places with K5,

Also,  this isn't a 32-bit/64-bit issue is it?

  • HI, all the patches are perfect redeable, i have a different problem : since K4 is not installed, K5 is, obviously Vepro is not loading the patches cause K4 is missing. My question is : is there a workaroud to get Vepro loading K5 and patches instead of K4 ?

Anyway i can do it manually but it take forever, just curious about something like "reopen in K5" or something else.

    Thanks.

  •  If VE Pro is successfully loading K5 to where your K4 instances were,  and it is just Kontakt not loading it's patches,  then it must be down to the directory structure of where K5 is looking for it's library.

If you can manually load K4 patches into K5,  then it must be down to where K5 is looking,  a work around this would be to try to establish where K5 is looking,  and copy your library into that location - but I am sure it must be easier to change the library path in K5.

  • ....VePro is not loading K5 instead of K4, plugin not recognized.....

  • I think you're out of luck. K4 and K5 are different programs. If you load a project in your sequencer, exactly the same problem will occur.

  •  OK,  so I see the problem is that Kontakt itself is not loading.

The only thing you can try is to rename the Kontakt plug in  from Kontakt 5.dll to Kontakt 4.dll and see if that does it.

I am sure the extensions will be different on the Mac,  but you get the idea of what to try.

Please test this cautiously, as it could well crash the whole system - but it is worth a try.

  • Also remember the the 32 and 64 bit versions of Kontakt have the same name, which can lead to confusion.  Make sure you're using the right one.
