  • SOLVED: dp audio channel limit

how does one get more than 32 channels of audio into digital performer (7.24) per instance of vienna ensemble? I have selected in vepro 128 channels but when it connects to dp it defaults to 32 channels. I know this is also a motu question, but just wanted to ask here as well. Thanks!

  • I can't answer your question, but as you can only have 16 MIDI channels, do you need more than a 32 audio channel output?

  • Thanks DG for the reply!  Unfortunately, I am in need of more channels.  I'm using Vienna's Multiport Insert, so I'm running 12 MIDI ports in one instance of VePro connecting to a PC where VEP is hosted.  The CPU on the PC (as well as DP) seems to do much better with one instance using Multiport than spreading it out amongst many instances.  The only downside I've run into has been limitations of Audio Inputs from DP.

Anyone else running a big Multiport setup?

  • OK, well I still can't answer your question, but in the meantime please check that you have the same number of audio outputs from VE Pro set on all networked machines in the Preferences, including the Preferences on the machine where DP resides.

  • As it turns out you can, and just did.  Thank you DG!  I did not think to change the preferences in Stand Alone mode on the Mac since I was only using the PC.  Great idea, and a bit sheepish for not thinking of that myself.  Much appreciated.

    Glad to have helped.

  • For Logic Pro 10.2.2, I have the same problem. I checked the settings on all, the server and the instances. I had set one instance from 32 audio channels output to 46 and settings for all others changed automatically, including the server.  I have a plugin on a multitimbral instance of VEP. I only have 32 audio channels available still.  Any ideas?
