  • Making a Sustenuto Blend with Vienna Instruments 5? (Special Edition)

Is there a way to create a patch with Vienna Instruments 5 / Special Edition that mimics the old, Kontakt based "Sustenuto Blend" patches found in the old Opus 1 and 2 libraries?

When I make an orchestral "mock up" of a piece often I find myself going back to Kontakt for this feature, but would rather keep it in Vienna Instruments.

  • I have no idea what the patch you're talking about is, so can't really help. Are you able to describe what you want to hear?

  • if you mean a legato patch with more sustain than might be typical, some of the libraries have such patches. if not and you have a sus and a legato for instance, you can put them in left/right slots and 'slot crossfade' the sus in as needed.

  • Thank you - this works well. I'm using the Violin sustain patch to add sustain to the portamento violin. The portamento is monophonic, and the sustain is polyphonic, but I can easily enough work with that.

I wonder if there's a way to make a polyphonic patch mono?

  • in the advanced mode of VI Pro, under Options tab, there is interval mode, mono or poly.
