    HP Proliant DL380 G5

    It has 2 x e5440 Xeon quad core chips (for a total of 8 cores) 12mb l2 cache on each
    5 x 146GB SAS drives

    4 MB Ram (going to upgrade the ram).

    I only ask because most people seem to suggest the i7, but I can get this entire setup for $250 and figure splitting all my samples across 4 10k SAS drives would rock.

    Or should I use this as my DAW to replace my i7 and put my VE Pro on the i7? I just feel it would be a waste of the 4 x 146gb SAS drives.

    Sadly, this server will only run Windows Server 2008 and apparently VE Pro 5 needs Windows 7. Unless someone out there is successfully running it on Windows 2008 Server, I guess I have to pass on this deal :(
