  • Serious problem with keyswitches in Logic.

Serious problem with keyswitches i try change legato to stacato( for example!) and i defined C2=is legato C#2=is stacatto. when i play keys form keyboard worked like way i thinked and i used standard midi key numbers. I found problem logic and vsl used different numbering for octaves. now keyswitches work way what i thinked even form Logic notes. I post this if someone else have same problem. is sad there is in theory standard (i think i use standard in Logic) which some programs.

  • Hi Vanhapolle, this is not what I would call a serious problem. You can change the way Logic displays note names - select 'Preferences' and 'Display': there should be an option to display Middle C as C3 or C4 (VSL uses the international standard of C4).

This does not affect MIDI note numbering - as you probably know, MIDI notes have 127 possible values from a very low C to a very high G!

  • I think Logic uses currently Midi standard or its this true Roland uses standard midi notes and Yamaha and Korg dont use. becouse current numbering is sameway what i think kontakt uses, and my Yamaha uses (i earlier also owned Roland). ps. i know midi notevalues. and i actually know much even i cannot clearly say always what i mean. and serious problem becouse many plugin and hardware manufacturers use own way identify this thing. this is problem i dont say vsl is problem.

  • There are two (main) MIDI standards. Neither one is more correct than the other. It just so happens that Logic (and Cubase, for that matter) uses the Yamaha standard, rather than the Roland one (also known as Scientific Pitch notation) which VSL uses.

  • Having different standards is a pain, but that isn't going to change. As long as you remember which key to press you'll be OK.

  •  On the "General Settings" page in VI it's possible to define Middle C. (C3 to C5)
