  • Default expression map in Cubase ignored by VSL?

While using expression maps for SE+ in Cubase 7.0.3 I experience the following problem: the first articulation on the track (the default expression map) is apparently not recognized by VSL. For example for the "31S Tuba+" matrix I use the "SE+ - Low Winds" expression map. The default map (articulation) is C#5 Sustain which translates to C#6 Sus in VSL which is OK. I see from the "leds" in VSL that it is receiving "something" each time I stop, rewind or FF the Cubase transport but I cannot ascertain what it is. The mini-keyboard key C#6 (or any other) in VI Pro doesn't move at all. I even tried to change the keyswitch to C2 to be able to hear it to no avail. What am I doing wrong? Or is it a bug in Cubase or VSL? Thanks for any help! UPDATE: after several tests it seems that the problem is with Cubase and not VSL. I will try Steinberg support and will report here. Thanks.

  • I have noticed something similar, it works a little nonetheless.

  • This bug has existed for a long time, I'm afraid. The only workaround is to insert a quick change/change back of articulation.

How to make sure that it always revert to the default articulation (default slot) especially when you change rapidly between two articulations (e.g. stacc and sustain)? I can't imagine myself inserting map events at every single note! Thanks for any help on how you do it...

  • Changing articulations always works for me. What doesn't always work is starting a sequence in the middle of an articulation.
