  • VE Pro - VI always appears as separate window

    hi,

i've had this problem for a while now:
in vienna ensample pro 5, when i instert a new vi pro instance it opens as a serparte window, not stacked in the bottom with with mixer and mir view. when i then press the button in the upper left to merge the views, the window dissaperes shortly and then reappeares just as before - it doesn't work anymore.

if i open a preset or an old project where everything was normal, it still is. this only concersn new projects.

i'm here on a mac pro, os x 10.8.4 with the latest ve pro and vi pro built installed (5.1.1.2331 and 2.3.12334).
    any ideas?
    thanks

    Hi gernot,

you can re-arrange your windows like this (from the VE PRO manual, page 25, th screenshot there will help!):

"To undock a window, double-click its title bar or click the small undock button in the upper right corner.

To dock an undocked window again, double-click its title bar.

To re-arrange a docked window (like shown below), simply click and drag its title bar over the main

window. Indicators will be displayed when you’re the window over a valid location on the main window.

The Instrument window offers the option to unsnap individual instruments.

The big "unsnap" button in that window lifts that particular instrument's User Interface out of the shared

area and makes it a free floating window."

BTW: There are newer builds of VE PRO and VI PRO available already (builds 12337) in your USER AREA.

    Best,

    Paul

  • hi paul,

thanks for the answer, but sadly the none of the described techniques work for me, hence the forum message.
once i've undocked all windows, there's no way of docking them back. moving them around on the main window doesn't do anything (anymore - as mentioned - this used to work for me)

when i open a preset everything is in place and i can dock and undock windows as i like.

but it's solved - i completly reinstalled ve pro etc and it's working again.. somtimes i simply overlook the most obvious/easy way ;).. guess i forgot about the clean swipe method after swapping my windows machine for a mac.. it's been a while ;)

    thanks again,

    g.
