Dear Forum Members,

we proudly announce the immediate release of MIRx, the convolution reverb extensions for Vienna Instruments PRO.

MIRx is based on our revolutionary MIR (Multi Impulse Response) technology. It is a convenient and affordable way to integrate the stunning acoustics of renowned concert halls and sound stages directly into Vienna Instruments PRO. Using pre-configured Multi Impulse Responses from Vienna MIR PRO, each instrument or ensemble in your Vienna Instruments arsenal will find its perfect position on stage at the touch of a button.

Simply turn on the MIRx option in your player’s reverb window, select one of the presets for your loaded instrument and it will be placed and aligned at the appropriate spot on the stage. Creating a perfectly balanced orchestral sound has never been easier.

Please visit the new MIRx pages of VSL's website for further information and the introduction video by Pauls Steinbauer:

... and don't miss the MIRx Venues' sub-pages! :-)

Kind regards,

/Dietz - Vienna Symphonic Library

Dear MIR Pro users,

a related announcement for you (and a few words of clarification): With the next update of MIR Pro / MIR Pro 24, you will get access to all (!) presets I created during the last months for MIRx, and even a few more which didn't make it into MIRx for one reason or the other. Oh, and did I mention that you will get all of these 900+ settings for free? :-)

You will be supplied with these carefully sculpted setups in form of VI Frames, one for each family of instruments (violins 1, violins 2, violas etc. ... trumpets, horns, trombones ... and so on) for each of the three Venues. - A technical note: In MIRx, each group of instruments relies on an individually adapted Room EQ. This is easy to achieve in VE Pro by means of MIR Pro's wet routing feature, but not with MIR Pro plug-in.

The planned release for the next MIR Pro update (and thus the MIRx settings for MIR Pro) is later this summer, most likely during the next three or four weeks. Thanks for your patience!

Kind regards,

Dear MIR Pro users,

just a quick update: We have decided to integrate MIRx´ features deeper and more comprehensively into MIR Pro than just providing you with the plain settings in form of VI Frames. This is especially important for the plug-in version of MIR Pro, which - as you know - operates without Vienna Ensemble Pro and couldn´t access these settings therefore.

The next update of MIR Pro will bring you these (and some other) new features and enhancements. Due to the new code that´s necessary it will take a bit longer than I announced above to supply you with the MIRx presets, though.

Thanks for your patience!

Kind regards,

So the presets Dietz mentioned are still being worked on?  Or are they now available?   I am excited to try these out!!!

Actually, we're not working on the presets (they are ready since the release of MIRx, obviously), but on a new version of MIR Pro which will incorporates many changes and additions. This update of MIR Pro will allow for a similar workflow like MIRx offers. Due to the very different approach the two applications are based on there are quite some things to consider, though, and that's why it takes some time to implement the new features.

 Thanks for your patience ...

Hello!

Now I test MIRx in demo mode.

Small Bug in MIRx: If I loud Konzerthaus Organ, not for all patches organ MIRx presets loads - some patches loads only generic presets of MIRx..

Question:
If I use 2 computers for VePro, is it need to buy MIRx second time for second computer? Or MIRx sales as Vepro - 3 licenses at once?

MIRx feature request: possibility to link wet/dry settings on all instances MIRx, for global wet/dry setting.

Best regards,
Vadim

Dietz - I absolutely love the way MIR Pro works already.  Will these changes go easy on those who love the "old-fashioned" MIR Pro?  Thanks!

Thanks for reporting! I just looked ino it myself, and there's indeed an inconsistency in MIRx auto-guessing logic. I will ask VSL software engineers to fix this ASAP. - In the meantime, please use MIRx' "General Purpose - Ensemble - Rear"-setting as a workaround.

Like MIR Pro, MIRx needs a seperate license for every system.

This is on our list already, thanks for your suggestion!

Yes, that's what our development efforts are about right now: Interweaving the "automatisms" introduced by MIRx with the free accessability of MIR Pro's features - without sacrificing much of either application's benefits and workflow. :-)

A side-note:

It might be the most meaningful thing not to use MIRx for Vienna Konzerthaus Organ at all, especially when you want to hear it in Vienna Konzerthaus - Grosser Saal. After all, that's the hall where this instrument was recorded anyway! :-) Just make sure to use the Release-samples provided by Konzerthaus Organ's presets by default, and you will hear the original reverb tails.

OTOH, make sure to switch off VI Pro's Release samples when you plan to use it in any other MIR Venue - otherwise you will send the recored natural reverb tails into yet another reverb.

Hi Dietz,

Are there any plans to integrate this technology with Sibelius. I have been posting my compositions on youtube http://www.youtube.com/user/Bachbeatty as a video of the playing Sibelius score voiced with VSL  samples and DSP.

And question about instruments placement: as I see, there is european-style instruments placement in MIRx (first violins at left, second violins at right, etc) Is american-style (as it shown at page 10 of Special Edition manual) will be implemented at MIRx?

Hi  V_ad_im,

thanks for your interest in MIRx.

Right now, we have no plans for an alternative setup. MIR Pro / 24 gives you all options to create any seating you like, though. :-)

Hi Stephen,

fellow forum-member Bill already answered your question in this thread: -> http://community.vsl.co.at/forums/t/35821.aspx

In a nutshell, MIRx is integrated with Sibelius as soon as you're running Vienna Instruments Pro with the application, because MIRx is an integral part of our player.

Hi Sami,

When logged in, you should be able to see the reduced price for the side license right on the product page of RoomPack 1.

Please contact me at  with a screenshot if that doesn't work.

Best,

Stefan
