Not receiving vepro5 automation data into Pro Tools 11 from Plugins running in vepro5

I am comfortable in general, using vepro5 in pro tools for most plugins so far.  However, I am not able to make this work, i.e. automation data.  Please help!

Here are my questions below:

1. I am trying to get volume automation data into my pro tools 11 from a plugin running in vepro5. I am sending audio to this plugin in vepro5 using  'Audio Input'.  The plugin does receive my audio,  processes it and then sends automation (volume) data based on the audio it receives.  I am receiving the audio over the 'audio input' back into my pro tools as expected.  However,  I am not receiving any automation (volume) data.  What do I need to do to get this going?
2. Do I need to use a vepro5  'Event Input'  to do this?
3. Can this be done without using the 'Event Input' ?
4. Additionally, I do not see the 'Event Input' showing up in my pro tools.  Where is my 'Event Input'?
5. Does this have to do with sending and receiving midi data? If yes, how do I go about doing it?
