  • Reverb questions

So far, I've created 6 aux channels (3 for ER, 3 for tail) inserted with Altiverb 6 to use very dry samples especially for VSL SE in Logic. I don't know if I'm understanding right about hybrid reverb which Vienna Suite might has. When I'm go with hybrid reverb, can I abandon the concept (separate ER+tail buses) I mentioned above? Actually, even though i'm pretty satisfied with the sound, the way is sometimes cpu-hungry and complicated. Before upgrading to Altiverb 7 for Logic X, I'm looking for the more efficient way to use VSL SE. Your comments would be very appreciated.

    Hi sunnykim,

I´d say, give Vienna Suite a try with a free demo license! Hybrid Reverb offers you the best of both worlds in both plug-ins.

Click "try" on the product page of Vienna Suite and check out the video tutorials here.

Yes, a good idea, try the SUITE for free. You are able to switch off either TAIL or ER with the Hybrid-Reverb. With the Hybrid you will get the whole impulses (incl. tail) but you have the possibility to suppress the part with the tail in several ways.

BTW: Why do you also take 3 different tails in your concept? Try to use just one reverb (tail) over all (within the output channel for example). Compared with a real room you have more or less one tail as well. The different positions of musicians we mainly make out with different direkt signals and different ERs. And another fact is that acoustic theories not always work properly with effects. It counts what we get as result in the end. So give the One-Tail-Possibility a try as well when you need to save CPU power.
