Dimension Strings auto voicing (divisi) question.

I would like to know if it is possible to have VI Pro to play all voices in unison if I only press a single note? (just single articulations, NOT legato).  What I mean is, let's say I have a 1 + 2-3-4 division for the Group 1 Violins (4 players).  When I play two notes together, it gets a solo violin on top with the 3 others below it no problem.  But when I only play a single note, it seems VI Pro still thinks it is the top note and plays the 1st/solo violin only.  Yet to me, it should be a unison note without divisi.

OR

Is there anyway to activate/deactivate the auto voicing via KSW or CC or any means without manually clicking the button with the mouse? 

I know I can create a new cell for a particular articulation just for this purpose.  Just wonder if I can do it without so though.

just set up matrix for normal voicing,  a matrix for each of your preferred auto voicings. Then, assign each matrix a keyswitch. Or a new row of cells with the same patches but with different auto-voice settings.  Dimension brass is set up this way and makes perfect sense.

Unfortunately the behavior you describe isn't possible in the current voicing options in VIPro. My advice is to have separate matrices/cells.

However, I recently created a Lemur interface for a client who wanted to do something similar and it occured to me that Lemur could be used to accomplish what you want...though it isn't elegant or simple to construct. You would need to record-enable all your dimension violins on separate tracks at once and then you would use Lemur as an intermediary pass-through device between your keyboard and your violins. When Lemur detects that only one note is played it sends all the data through to all the channels. But when the one note splits into two, it detects this and sends note off messages to the bottom half of the section, and then new note on messages again to those same channels....etc.

Thanks guys for the reply and suggestions....... though honestly, I really wish if the on/off button for auto voicing could be triggered by a MIDI event, which will save a lot of effort! 

EDIT : Actually I ended up loading two instances of 2-desk instead of Group 1 (Violins) for that purpose, as programming the additional cells (for quite a number of articulations) is too much of a trouble.  Which I found it ironic that, it makes the divisi function rather pointless..... [^o)]

Mmmmh...actually I don't think that this would do what you want. It wouldn't be any different than what you can do now with voicing. The problem would still exist: when one sustained note becomes two, the first note played by the full section continues to sound.

What we're actually talking about here is actually an "Auto Divisi" feature, not really a voicing feature. When you think about it, the current voicing feature is not an "auto voice" at all. Which is not say it isn't great-- for many situations it makes sense (for example, chords with one player per note). I rely heavily on this feature for Dimension Brass.

Given the awesomeness of the Dimension line of products, I would _speculate_ that they are probably working on something like this 😊

Yes, I hope so too.  I really love Dimension Strings a lot, even I have only acquired it 3 days ago! [:D]
