Sorry if this has been covered before. I searched a bit, and didn't immediately find anything about it...
I've had a number of Vienna Keys since VSL moved to that system of protection, so I've been using them for a number of years. Is there a general life-span for these keys? How long are they supposed to last? I think I have one that might be going a little flaky, but I'm not sure. If I have problems, restarting the computer usually solves the situation (the offending Vienna Key actually has Arturia licenses on it).
Is there any internal battery that wears down in these? If there is, it would be nice to know so I could replace them ahead of the time when they might be expected to fail.
Also, I have all my current licenses spread out over several keys (I used to have a number of racked PCs, but replaced them with 12 core Macs). Are things more stable with fewer keys on the USB bus, or doesn't it matter? My other rationale for having a number of keys is that I won't lose access to everything if one key fails.
Anyway, interested in any thoughts about the aging of these keys. Thanks.
