Just got hold of GS3 last night, I noticed in another thread this morning that the performance tool does not work with GS3 (well, rewire)... Well, I can get cakewalk proA9 and giga3 running together, but the perf tool just gives me error messages about the midi ports already in use. Crying

Is there any work around that anyone has figured out? or am I gonna have to uninstall giga 3 and go back to 2.5, because gigapulse or not, I ain't giving up the performance instruments! They're my babies! Big Smile

There is a way to work it out after all according to programmer Joe but you will not be able to do "faster than realtime" mixdown of the GigaStudio material.
I have to check on if this is a workaround or something that he has put in. I'll let you know. In the end, it sounds like its doable.

It looks like Tascam at least believes that the performance tool should work with GS3 + Sequencer under Rewire.

From the Gigastudio 3.02 patch release notes (page 4):

When using GS3 in ReWire mode, without MIDI port processing tools such as the VSL Performance tool or Garritan's Maestro Tool, the ReWire MIDI ports should be used. This will allow either real time or faster than real time ReWire audio rendering. Do not use the GS3 MIDI ports.
• When using GS3 in ReWire mode, with MIDI port processing tools, the midi track will be routed to the MIDI port processing tools and ReWire audio
rendering must be done in real time mode. Please refer to your DAW's
documentation on how to set this.

Still not sure exactly what it would look like, but it seems like they almost take it for granted that it will work. I intend to contact Tascam about this in the near future.

oooh... I wonder if that means I need to get cakewalk sonar? I don't think pro audio 9 has any rewire functionality? Or can I not bother with rewire?

I don't really mind that I wouldn't have faster than realtime capture Big Smile as long as I have the performance instruments running through gigapulse and am able to sequence in Cakewalk proA9 then i'll be happy. Cool

For me rendering in realtime mode results in an audio file where the midi timings suffer horribly, the music stutters, stops, etc.

And I can't even bounce properly with my Phase28 so I am stuck using rewire.

Rendering only works fine when not using the performance tool in between. Confused

Interesting. It can be routed ok now but it seems to not mix down properly using the tool. That may be something for the VSL guys to check into. In the end, it could be a limitation of the technology until something is worked out.

I'll check in with the programers and see what they think.
