  • Just for a little "distraction"...

    http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/apr13/articles/notes-0413.htm

Sounds like people you know, or met at university or around the industry?

  • Remeber reading it at the time and laughing, mostly in the knowledge that it can't get any better.

Paul Farrer can be highly amusing and it should be worth noting he's never going to get a gig as a 'motivational speaker' I'm happy to report. Some of his anecdotes are worth the admission.

  • Thanks for posting this one Errikos, the story really is kind of hilarious and depressing at the same time...

...and I think Paul Farrer's masterful original variation on the theme shouldn't be withheld from the readers of this forum:

"i here the berlin filharmonik needs new conductr. reckn i cld do that. lemme no :-)”  [li]

  • I more than often enjoy P. Farrer's column, I just thought I'd share this one - even if it's from an old edition - for recently I have encountered some "academic" papers that have made me cringe (one example of a PhD thesis: 'Dandyism in computer video games'...).

[H]...with the emphasis on "thru"...I mean, that guy...I had a better command of written English when I was nine...

  • For the rest of any interested forumites, this is the original letter of the potential "graduate"...:

"im currently at university and im doing project on music for tv which is wear i am hoping to go into career i wounderd if you could tell me abit about the job you do ur qualifications and can we work together on summit. Cheeky I no. Lol”

I bet this composter's music sounds exactly like that, for I also bet he's a native english speaker (in a broadish sense...) - For Col..!

P.S.: How on Earth does 'something' become 'summit'?! Combinatorial Retrograde Inversion?...
