  • Solo Problem in Cubase 7.5 with Vienna Ensemble Pro

    Hi,

I noticed a small issue with VE Pro and Cubase 7.5.  It's a specific problem but maybe someone else uses this feature.  In the Cubase Preferences there is an option under the "Project and MixConsole" section called "Enable Solo on Selected Track" which has the solo state move as you select tracks.  I noticed that with the new VST rack in Cubase 7.5 that this feature does not work accross MIDI ports with VE Pro.  This used to work in Cubase 7.0 so I'm not sure if it's a Cubase problem or VE Pro problem.  Here is the test:

    1) make sure "Enable Solo on Selected Track" is checked in the preferences (Project and mix console page)

    2) load VE Pro in the VST instrument RACK.

    3) create two midi tracks, one pointing to "vienna ensemble pro - MIDI in 1" and the second track to "vienna ensemble pro - MIDI In 2", so that they are using separate ports.

    4) Select the first track and solo.  You'll see that the track solos as well as the corresponding VST return track which is normal.

    5) Now select the second track.  You'll see that the midi track will solo, but the VST return(s) will mute which shouldn't happen.  In order to hear that track you'll have to un solo and then solo it again.  In cubase 7.0 the VST returns would always remain in the solo state as you swtich between midi tracks.

Now if the midi tracks are on the same port then there is no problem and it works as expected, the problem only exists when selecting tracks that are using different ports.

Can anyone else confirm this issue?

    thanks!

    Matt

  • I don't have access to Cubase 7.5, but this sounds like a Steinberg issue.

In the short term you can solo defeat the VSTi returns to avoid this behaviour.

  • oh duh!  why didn't I think of that!  thank you!
