  • Cubase/VEP Slave cutting out and disconnecting

Hey all, hopefully someone here will be able to help with this.

I've just set up a new Imac with a fresh install of VEP5/Cubase 7.5. It works perfectly with instances on the same machine, but when I connect to my PC slave, it 'works' until I press a note, then I get about 3 seconds of sound before it cuts out, about 5 seconds after that the instance will disconnect (in Cubase) but not register as disconnected in VEP on my slave PC.

If I try to reconnect Cubase it will hang adn I have to force restart. I've tested the same setup on my Macbook which worked perfectly fine, I just can't figure out what I'm doing wrong to make it behave like this. I've tried the usual things of switching off Wifi. Any ideas?

    1. iMac and Macbook have the same OS?
    2. Are you using the same cable in your tests?
    3. Same version of VEP on PC and iMac?

  • 4. Make sure to switch off "ASIO Guard" in Cubase's Audio Device Settings.

  • Hi both, thanks for the replies.

All my VEP software is up to date and identical on the PC and My iMac has the same OS/software as my Macbook.

I've swapped out the cable but get the same result.

I've switched off ASIO and get the same result.

I've just set up a completely fresh project and loaded one percussion instument in VEP on my PC, and the same happens.

I press the key, in this case it's a tom. I mange about three hits and the audio signal drops out, then a little later the instance disconnects, the PC doesn't register this, force disconnecting then trying to connect again just cause Cubase to hang.

  • Hmm, I just tried again and got this Cubase error:

Could not connect to "169.254.221.183" My PC Name.

  • Just tried in Logic X and it appears to be working fine, so it must be something to do with Cubase 7.5?
