  • Live pit work using VI Pro

    Greetings all,

Up to now, I've only used VSL composing in a studio or teaching in a lecture theatre.  I do a lot of pit work and normally use a Korg Kronos for that.  However, I have 7 days playing next week and I've decided to use VI Pro in a live setting.  I wondered if anyone had any tips.  My setup is:

    Roland A88
MacBook Pro (2.6GHz, quad I7 with 16GB RAM)
    512GB SSD on PCIe
iPad Retina running the VI Pro Remote App for switching
Wireless connection via an ad-hoc network
    Symphonic Cube (extended)

I'm playing tuned percussion on this occasion so the SSD footprint is fine.  Although the Ad Hoc network is sometimes flakey to set up, once it's going, I've found it reliable, as is the VI Pro Remote App.

Anybody out there doing this kind of thing regularly?  If so, I'd truly appreciate any tips you can give me.  I've tested up my rig exactly as it will be and it's all been smooth but I'd be grateful were you to reduce the risk by sharing your experiences.

    Many thanks and best wishes.
