  • VEPro5.3.13240 says "Connection Limit"

I have 1 slave VEPro computer on same Network.

I want to connection 3 Host computers.

    Slave.

    MacPro

    Host.

    iMac,MacBookProRetina1,MacBookProRetina2.

    total:3 computers on same network.

    VEPro(slave) says...

Could not connect to "192.168.1.22 MacProLate2013 [64]" because the server connection limit has been reached.

    What's connection limit?

By the way, previous version of VEPro is fine. This case is only VEPro5.3.13240.

    Hello charg,

It is not possible to connect to a VE PRO Server from multiple computers anymore. If your situation does not include multiple users connecting to a VE PRO Server, please contact us at support@vsl.co.at with a detailed description of your setup.

  • Why has VSL created this new limit? The ability to work two stations to one slave has been incredibly useful when using an assistant on a very complex project.

My way of doing this is not some clever way to avoid getting legitimate liscenses by the way. This is a team effort working on single cues, passing the work from one station to another. Various other music sources are networked too in this environment.

Is there any possibilty that VSL could re-instate the ability to serve more than one host?

    Hello benbartlett,

We have introduced this connection limit to enforce our terms of licenses. Computers are becoming faster and the possibility to have 1 huge slave computer for multiple users at the same time is an idea we cannot support.

Our terms of license are very clear about this.

You can always contact us regarding side licenses for additional slave computers, so you can duplicate your slave setup:

  • Ok, understandable. Thanks for the reply.

From my persepctive I must also now obtain another physical slave for my assistant.

I know this is not your fault, but the issue of liscensing across the whole industry is annoying - and the result of a few malicious people who want things for free.

Maybe a special "side user liscense" that would release the whole machine - for a reasonable cost or based upon the libraries installed, might be a useful solution. This would obviate the need for me to obtain another physical machine. It's not just VSL libraries that are being run here. Kontakt allows more than one instal per liscense, but tops out at a certain point.

So for example, for a fee of £xxx, my slave would look for an eLiscense that says - "this machine can serve 2 hosts". The fee could bebased (or the key could limit the machine) to a certain number of libraries.

    Just a thought.

    Thanks

I disconected all instances at the server, and when I try to connect from another master, I get this limitation error. Please note, that only one master connected to server. Why? VEP 5.4

  • Hi,

There are probably some connections still there.

Close VE PRO, load the Metaframe again and connect from a different master.

    Best,
