  • How much read speed do I really need for samples/MIR/audio?

I'm considering adding a mini-SAS card and enclosure to RAID four SSDs which should give me 2400MB/s read speeds. My goal is to eliminate any and all bottlenecks concerning streaming, buffering and DFD speed. (Don't have a TB2 MacPro yet).

With MIR being cached, 1000s of samples being read along with audio (all that is not in ram), seriously what number should I shoot for from a single computer setup? 1200MB/s? 2400MB/s? 4800MB/s?

(Assuming I have 32-64GBs of RAM and a fairly recent MacPro, a fully loaded orchestral setup of VSL, Kontakt libs, MIR etc...

    Thanks
