  • HELP!! (Weird sound glitches in Logic Pro)

    Hello,

This is my first time posting and I hope I don't seem too desperate, but I really do not know what to do.

Up until last night I have been working in large projects with relatively few glitches, but sometime yesterday VI Pro 2 started working REALLY strange in Logic Pro 9.

One problem is that some instruments radomly stopped "obeying" volume automation curves if you played them when the automation was ocurring. For example, if the volume automation changed the volume from 0 to -7dBs at the start of the MIDI region you have to start playing the arrangement BEFORE the MIDI region starts, if not, it not only does not obey the automation, but plays that region in an extremely loud volume.

Other glitch that I am having (and the most frustrating one because there is no apparent solution) is that I have some legato ornamets in 2 flutes at some point, which are playing an upward 4 note scale. When it plays it legato it sounds just PERFECT, but randomly for no apparent reason at all it plays the scale in staccato (at least I think it is staccato), but the keyswitches are there (and VI Pro shows legato IS selected), and VI Pro has keyswitching activated. The strangest thing is that I made several bounces to see if the exports would have the correct articulation and of 4 bounces that I made 3 had the incorrect one, but one (second bounce) sounded all right (these bounces were one after the other, with no changes whatsoever in the project).

I really hope someone can help me because I am going crazy with this type of glitches (since these are not the only ones).

    Am I doing something wrong?

    Here are my specs:

    -VI Pro Version:

    2.4.13477

I run VSL Samples in a Iomega (ego) hard drive (7200 rpm)

    -Logic Pro 9.1.8 (1700.67) (64-bit)

    Macbook Pro (Late 2011):

    -OSX 10.8.5 (12F45)

    -Intel Core i7 2.4 GHz

    -16Gb of Ram

    -1.5 Tb Hard Drive

    -AMD Radeon 6770M 1024Gb

  • Hi,

Just answered your mail, and I´m afraid I was not of much help, as the song played back fine on my computer.

The volume automation bugs in Logic 9 are definitely there... Any tips from experienced Logic users there?

    Thanks,
    Paul

  • Hi,

You can sometimes get Logic ignoring volume automation.

    Things to try:

Make sure midi volume isn't fighting with track automation - they can both be active at the same time. Use one or the other - if using midi automation turn off track automation (turn "read" to off) If using track automation look in the event list to make sure there are no unintended control 7 events.

Try the sequence on another track - copy the region to a new instrument track then copy paste the track settings - and rewrite the automation.

Finally if non of this works copy the sequence to a new empty song and see if the problem disappears - may be that there is some corruption in the song.

    Good luck...and happy Christmas...
