  • Rhapsody in Blue

Here's my final for the year, Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue, orchestration by Ferde Grofe. The orchestra is all VSL; DS, DB, with some Appassionata thrown in. Piano is Synthogy's Ivory II Steinway and the Solo instruments are from Samplemodeling (Clarinet, Oboe, Trumpet, etc.). I used the TEC Breath Controller throughout the piece and it made a big difference on the winds and horns.

All of this is performed live with no quantization... (although I will admit to tightening parts up when necessary).

Enjoy and Happy New Year to all!

Very impressive. What do you assign the breath controller to? Expression?

Congratulations for the work and Happy New Year to you too!

  • Yes, expression. Much easier to use (at least for winds and brass) than an expression pedal. TEC also has an additional bite controller that you can ad on and set that to another MIDI control (like vibrato)... but I was happy to use the mod wheel for that.
