  • Slow connection to VE Pro 5 on slave

Hi. Previously I had Logic (on Lion) connecting to a Windows 7 slave running VEP Pro with 14 instances and it connected the whole lot in about 1 second total.

Now I updated to Mavericks and VE Pro 5 and each instance takes 5 seconds to connect (total 70 sec), which is a real workflow killer. No networking settings on either machine were changed. I also tried to go back to VEP 4, but now the slow connection time persists, even in VEP 4. All instances are preserved and decoupled.

How can I get the fast connection again?

Host: Mac Pro, OSX 10.9.5, Logic 10.1 (or 9.1.8), VE Pro build 5.3.13407, fixed IP address 192.168.1.1, subnet 255.255.255.0

Slave: Carillon PC, Windows 7, VE Pro build 5.3.13407, fixed IP adress 192.168.1.6, subnet 255.255.255.0

No router is used for the VEP network. Direct connection. Wifi is off. Connection from Mac to Internet is via separate Ethernet port with DHCP connecting to router with IP 192.168.0.1

  • Watch if your Mac is not using swap

    If not try this :

to set all ports to DHCP and note down all the values

Go back to Fixe address and put the value given in DHCP

  • I wasn't quite clear what you meant, because when I set the port DHCP no IP address gets assigned as there is no gateway - it's a direct connection.

HOWEVER: I simply turned on DHCP, then again to manual and enetered the same IP as before. And IT WORKS! MUCH FASTER CONNECTION! THANK YOU!

One thing I noticed that after shutdown the same problem re-appears. But then I just go through the same procedure. I swapped the VSL network to 'ethernet 1' on the mac pro, and it seems to work well now, even after shut down.

I wonder what all this is about??!

Did you try to click on the équivalent of "Renew DHCP Lease" on your slave and on you Mac

With 2 x Mac there no problem, you get the slave on a 169.x.x.x address ; This is OS X 😃

I dont know the mysteries of Windows
