  • Event Input Plugin in Logic X

    Dear All,

I'm having problems with the event input plugin in Logic X, playback and recording are impossible, a delay of about 1/2 second on recording and playback, sometime no sound at all, then stuck notes. Has anybody got this working with Vienna Ensemble, or should I go another route ? Or is there a setting I am missing ?

    Regards

    Dave

  • Hi Dave,

Did you insert a bypassed I/O plug-in, as described in the manual?

    Best,

I fixed it, forget to turn off sample accurate automation ! duh

  • I can recommend you to switch to the LogicX multiport layer instead of using the event plugin - it works great since Logic 10.1.

  • I had shied away from the Multiport layer because from the manual:

" In Logic, you need to use an Event Input plug-in to handle automation or bouncing will result in artifacts! "

and I am experimenting with the AM Pro midi fx scripter scripts from Audio Grocery, which I am finding very useful for changing / chasing articualtions using a Track automation lane.

    Am I missing something ?

  • When you are using the Multiport Layer, you don't need to think about using Event Input plugins. Performance will be better with Multiport and more instruments per instance.

  • So am I no right in thinking that you can't insert a midifx (scripter) plugin into a external midi channel, so is there any way I can use the Track Based Automation with a scripter plugin some other way ? The inout plugin was useful as each instance can house a midifxi plugin for that particular VSL "port" If I use the multiport, are not all 16 "ports" cabled to one software instrument, effectively leaving only one midifx plugin ?

I can see how this would work, but unfortunately the Audio Grocery plugin does not to seem to fit in with this workflow? I really like the way you can write patch changes in to TBA and see them displayed in the track, and chased properly

I am also sensing a tacet admission that the event input is "flaky"

    Regards
