  • Not able to create an instance within the Server?

    Hello all,

So recently I caught a doozy of a virus and wiped my hard drive, then reinstalled all my apps (next time I'm going to make a backup of the pristine system - UGH).

So after reloading all my apps, including Cubase 8 pro and all the VSL stuff (Ensemble Pro, MIR Pro, Room Packs, relinked the libraries which were on a secondary drive already).

Anyhoo, everything seemed to go along swimingly.  But now, when I load an old project, the server interface comes up but no unassigned server instance is available (the local/remote window has nothing in it.).

I opened an old vFrame instance hoping that it would show up in the Server, so I could link to the existing project, and still the viFrame does not appear in the Server window.

Has anyone had this issue before?  If so, how did you solve it?

    Thanks for your help!

    Hi John,

    Let´s start with the bascis:
    - Which OS are you working on?
    - Which version of VE PRO (latest version available here)?
    - Network settings?
    - Any firewalls / anti-virus programs?
    - Third party apps like "Little Snitch" or similar, that could prevent network connection?

    Best,

    Paul

  • I'm having a similar issue. Two days ago, I updated my Mac Pro from Mountain Lion to Yosemite, and now calling up a new VEPro plugin, in both Cubase 7.5 and LPX, will not see any satellite machines. I've made no changes re: manual IP addresses, no firewall changes, etc.

If I manually type in the IP address in the VEPro server window, I can connect to the satellites. I had this problem years ago, but solved it by deleting/disabling Network MIDI sessions in the Mac's AudioMIDI Setup app. Now the problem is back.

An upgrade to Yosemite is the only change I've made to a rig running VEPro on four machines without any trouble.

The sattelites are two Minis running Mountain Lion and a PC running Windows 7.

  • Update: On the host Mac Pro, I turned off wifi, set the Ethernet port (used for music) to DHCP, let it set the IP address, then it saw the satellite machines as usual from the VEPro server window. After that, setting Ethernet back to Manual and my usual IP address, it appears to be back to normal. Whew. I think it's the IT version of jiggling the handle.

    Hi Paul,

Sorry I usually post all the pertinant details:

    Windows 8.1, VEP Version 5.3.13407
Network: IPv4, 192.168.1.254 gateway, DHCP and DNS Server are all set to this IP.
AVG Free version of virus protection.
I don't run Little Snitch or a VST 32/64bit Bridge

What's strange is when I launch the standalone version of VEP/MIR Pro the Server section doesn't pop up automatically.

Only when I launch Cubase and select the Vienna Ensemble Pro Surround VST3 plugin instance does the Small Server window pop, but it doesn't show an available blank (new) Server connection (which is only local connection).  I'm not running any remote machines.

However, when I launch Vienna Ensemble x64 I do get an selectable Instance in the Server Window.  Am I doing something weird/wrong?

My problem is that I can't use that plugin style because it's not in Surround (which I've been mixing all my scores in).

    Thanks,

    John

  • Hi John,

Can you please send some screenshot to support@vsl.co.at, and maybe also include a zipped Cubase song?

Not sure why you´d want to start the VE PRO Stand-alone.... I´m probably missing something here.

Also not sure about your question in Surround. What doesn´t work? Did you check that the outputs in Cubase are available and that you have selected  a surround plug-in format?

Maybe we´ll solve this quicker via mail.

    Best,
    Paul
