  • Vienna Ensemble Pro, MAS, Snow Leopard

I'm a Digital Performer user and would like to use Vienna Ensemble Pro with MAS. I'm also using Snow Leopard, 10.6.8. Is there a version of VE Pro that works with 10.6.8?

    Thanks,

    Robert

  • Only the latest version will have MAS support, so if that won't run on SL, you're out of luck.

  • Perhaps it will run on Snow Leopard (even if not supported)? Can someone from VSL let me know?

    Thanks,

    robert

  • current version of VE Pro 5 works under | edit: 10.6.8. Installer informs that as the lowest # OSX that will work.

  • I'm a fool - of course it does, I'm using it.

I meant to ask if the new EVENT PROCESSOR that works with MAS will run with Snow Leopard.

I'm going to start another thread with the correct title - sorry for the waste of time.

  • I assume that you mean the VE Pro Event Input plugin. This plugin does not exist in a MAS version, simply because MAS supports multiple MIDI input ports out of the box, making that plugin redundant.

  • Yes, I did mean the VEPro Event Input plug.

I spoke to Paul Steinbauer at NAMM in Anaheim last month and he said that a MAS version of the plug would be released before long.

With all due respect to Paul, unless he is going to code it himself, I would tend to trust the actual programmer when he says that there is no Event Input plug.  😉

  • how many midi ports will the MAS version be capable of?

currently i'm using DP 7.24 on a mac pro along with 2 PC slaves.  each slave only has one big VE Pro instance with all threads devoted to it.  i'm using 40+ event input plugins for each slave (80+ total) within DP.  in order to conserve CPU power on the master computer, i disable event input channels that i'm not using (otherwise, things get glitchy).  i'm wondering if i'm going to have to split those single instances into smaller ones if there is a limit to the number of midi channels i can assign to each instance.
