  • 3rd party VST Intruments don't show up in Vienna Instruments Stand Alone

    Hi,

    Quick question:

I'm using Vienna Instruments stand alone at the moment. I have defined a VST folder in Options\Preferences\Plugins. But whatever VST instrument DLL I put in there, it will not show up after a rescan.

But all the VST effect plugins that I put there do show up after a rescan. So I know the folder is OK.

One of the VST instruments DLL's is a bit larger so I can see Vienna Instruments "testing" it. However, afterwards it doesn't seem to find it OK, because it doesn't show up.

Am I missing something? Are there certain requirements for VST Instrument plugins?

    Thanks!

  • Are you talking about Vienna Instruments, Vienna Ensemble or Vienna Ensemble Pro?

  • If you DO in fact mean Vienna Instruments, neither the Standard Version or the Pro Version works with Third Party VST instruments. They are sample players for VSL instruments only.

Vienna Ensemble PRO version DOES host Third Party VST instruments, but it is not a sample player like VIenna Instruments, just a host.

The free Vienna Ensemble Standard (that comes with Vienna Instruments Standard when you purchase any VSL instrument) can only host VSL instruments.

Vienna Ensemble Pro, which is bought separately, can host instances of Vienna Instruments (Standard or Pro), but those would only play VSL instruments.

Vienna Ensemble Pro can also host instances of Third Party instruments, but those would play in their own sample player.

    Hope this helps.
