  • CPU Meter dropping to 0% randomly

    Hi,

I've noticed some odd behavior recently with my VE Pro setup, it's usually been rock solid, but I've noticed that the CPU meter on the slave jumps around quite a bit and sometimes ends up jumping down to 0% which results in an audio drop out.   What might that be a symptom of usually?  I'm not running anything heavy duty, so I don't think I'm pushing the processor too hard, and I'm not even close to 100%.  Makes me think it's a networking issue...anything I should troubleshoot first?

Mac Pro for master, Windows 7 pc for slave both with quad core i7's.
    Cubase 8.0.10
    Ve Pro 5.4 13682
Using 10.0.0.5 and 255.255.255.0 in the network setup.

    thanks!

    Matt

  • Hi,

    That´s strange indeed.

Did you check with different buffer settings on the soundcard and in the VE PRO Server Interface plug-in (the network buffer)?

Is there a reliable way to reproduce it (any specific plug-in that might cause this)?

Did you try different thread settings in the VE PRO 5 preferences on the slave computer (start with the highest possible setting)?

    Best,

  • Yes I tried different buffer setting on both soundcard and network buffer.

Changing the number of threads seemed to steady it out.  I only have 2 instances and had it set on 2 threads, bumping it up to 4 seemed to help!
