Hi,

I'm experiencing an issue which occurs only when a passage using the Solo Strings (let's say solo violin) includes BOTH the vib. indication and a slur. I'm aware that there is no non vib. legato in the solo strings. However in a score where I do indicate vib. in a passage with a slur the matrix now moves to A6 (which in the default Sibelius Preset is of course blank. Should I just copy the legato patch to A6 or is this a genuine oversight in the programming? I don't experience similar behaviour when vib. is marked in a passage that includes legato/slur markings.

I am using Sibelius 6.2 and the latest Sound ID patch 1.0.67.

Thanks.

Hello Juergen!

I can reproduce the problem with the combination of vibrato and legato in the Solo Strings. This will be corrected with the next VSL Soundset Installer update. In the meantime I suggest, excluding the vibrato indication from playback (Inspector/uncheck play on pass 1). Vibrato is default for the Solo Strings anyway. Also the perf-legato articulation is with vibrato.

Best regards,
Andi

I own libraries Opus 1, Opus 2 and Solo Strings, I´m trying to use them with Sibelius 7 but it seems that I need to download soundset and it is nowhere to be found. I know these are now old but are they useless now? Is there anyway I can use them or is upgrading my only solution?

Hello Scott!

I'm sorry to say that there are no Sibelius sound sets for our legacy products (Gigastudio, EXS, Kontakt, Halion). You can integrate Kontakt in Sibelius, but to change articulations you would have to add MIDI commands to your score.

Best regards,
Andi

Can Horizon Series Opus 1 and 2 be used with Cubase LE 5 and/or FL Studio 10?

Hi Scott!

Yes, our Horizon products can be used with Cubase LE 5 and FL Studio 10. You will have to integrate the coresponding sampler software though (G-Player for Gigastudio, Kontakt or Halion).

Best,
Andi

Hi Andi,

Just noticing another behaviour which may need addressing. When the text command "legato" is entered into a Solo String Staff (for instance using the Solo Cello), and this is followed by the standard implementation of harmonics (circle above note) this triggers the natural harmonics NOT the artificial harmonics. Actually this behaviour is quite handy as now I can trigger natural harmonics, something that I could not see how to do from the manual before.

Perhaps you could let me know if there is an "official" way to trigger the bottom right matrix position (natural harmonics) in Cello BAsic L2? At present I need to disable the legato function using ord. or similar.

Thanks,

Juergen

Hi Juergen!

Thanks for reporting. The natural harmonic patch is placed by mistake in the Solo Violoncello preset for Sibelius. I will correct that. The correct way to trigger natural harmonics is by putting the patch to a custom cell. Please note that due to the way natural harmonics are mapped you will have to wright a different note than the one you want to hear. For more details refer to the library manual.

Andi

Hi Andi,

Further to the original post... the same behaviour may be found by combining the text portamento with a slur; i.e. slurred notes remain silent. I think the soloution for both instances is of course the same.

When should we expect an update to the Sibelius soundset to arrive?

Thanks, by the way.. I love the product!

Hello Juergen!

Combining slurs and portamento works fine here. If you want to, you can send your score and Playback Configuration to and I'll have a look at it.

ghoststrat, I honestly can't say when the next update to the Soundset Installer will be released.

Andi

Hi Andi,

You are correct. I was seeing the same issue just with the addition of the portamento text. I had failed to see that the passage was in vib. mode and therefore the slur was silencing the player.

Hi Andi,

Hope you don't mind if I just query another Sibelius triggering issue I think I may be experiencing. I seem to have no problem triggering the sul tasto detache articulation in the Solo String Viola section. Method: insert technique sul tasto and then insert technique detache. However in the Solo Violin I don't seem to be getting the same response. I do think I've tested this repeatedly now to think that something else may be at play... Perhaps you wouldn't mind having a look at this for me?

Thanks!

Hello Juergen!

Sul tasto detache is working fine for the Solo Violin here. Maybe you have a command from earlier in the score that has not been reset. In this case it would help to reset the Sound ID of the Solo Violin with an "ord." technique text command before the "sul tasto" command. If this doesn't help, I would go through the "Troubleshooting" section of the "Optimizing Sibelius Playback" manual.

Best,
Andi
