  • VE Pro5 crashes when scanning VST folder

    Hi

I run Cubase 8.0.10 on PC DAW and two PC slaves connected thru VE pro5. Communication between DAW and slaves works fine. Win7 on all machines (slave 1 is Win7 pro, DAW + slave 2 are Win7 home edition)

VE pro5 5.4.13682 and VI pro 2.4.13670 installed on both slaves. E-licenser works fine on whole system, no license issues.

PROBLEM on slave 1; When I scan VST folder, VEpro5 never finishes but keeps "testing; VST plugin; Vienna Instruments Pro x64". When I try to close VEpro5, "Windows tells me Vepro5 is not responding".

I have renamed the VST3 folder in order to not confuse VEpro5 (although this seems unnecessary since that folder is not registered in VEpro5 pref's as a VST folder). The reason for renaming is that some of the same files are/were installed in both folders. Which I thought might confuse VEpro5 -?

I have reinstalled both VEpro5 and VIpro2. Same problem.

    What to do? Please help,

    best regards - Jørgen

  • ahaa; fiddled around some more; somehow I got it fixed

  • I ended up having different VST plugin folders for different software, so on my host machine I have 32bit and 64 bit folders for Cubase, a seperate VST plugin folder for Soundforge, and a seperate one for VEP as there are certain VST's which can kill both Soundforge and VEP.

    Mark.
