  • VE Pro: localhost does not appear

    I am running Digital Performer 8 on a PC with Windows 7.

    I am trying to get VEPro to work on my (one) machine. VE works fine.

    If I start a new project, and select add instrument track->vsl->VE Pro, I get just a little box which says "not connected". If I click connect there are NO available instances. In the manual it says that with only one machine it should give me 127.0.0.1localhost(64) etc.... But the "available instances" box is empty, and there is nowhere where I can enter these numbers.

    ?????

  • I'm having the same problem with the newest version.  I had the same problem with the Febuary release as well.  I have not been able to update since the October 2014 release.  I posted earlier about this but it was never resolved.  I'm using Sonar Platinum and Finale 2014d.  I don't get it.  Virus protection and firewall turned off.

  • Hi,

    That´s very curious, as the local instance should always be easily recognized.

    Are there any other 3rd party "optimizing" tools installed on your computer, which could possibly block the communication?

    Please send some screenshots that show the VE PRO Server Interface and the open VE PRO Server in one screen to support@vsl.co.at, I´ll see if I can find out what´s going on!

  • Do you have an entry in your lmhosts file that is conflicting?  e.g. localhost redirecting to something specific that would point away from where it would normally resolve?  Sometimes certain group policies, virus scanners, or spy bot protection programs will cause this.

    Hi Paul,

    Here are 3 screenshots;

    1) VePro Standalone which seems to work fine,

    2) DP->Add instrument->VEPRo

    3) Available Instances

    As you can see, within DP nothing is being recognized, although VEPRo is available in the list of instruments.

  • Thanks.

    I cannot see the VE PRO SERVER anywhere in these 3 screenshots...

    Looks like you opened the VE PRO STANDALONE Software. Please open the VE PRO SERVER, then it will work.

  • I just resent the images, I sent the wrong ones before.

    As you can see, the server shows no instances available. :-(

  • Hi,

    I still see no VE PRO Server in any of these screenshots. Did you start the VE PRO Server in the background?
    You are showing the VE PRO SERVER INTERFACE plug-in, which is looking for the VE PRO SERVER (just like me).

  • Thanks for your prompt reply, Paul, I appreciate it.

    There is something I don't understand here. Where do I find VEPRO server?

    In DP->Add Track->Instruments->VSL, I see VEPro with many options, but nowhere do I see VEPro server.

    In Program Files-VEPRo there are only 2 applications: VEPro x64 and VEPro.

    Hi,

    Click "Start" => "All programs" => "Vienna Ensemble PRO" and you´ll find all components, as shown in the VE PRO 5 Manual, page 10.

    Best,
    Paul

  • Thanks so much, Paul! VSL= great sounds and great service.  :-)  Always a pleasure dealing with you, unlike ... certain other companies, ahem!  ;-)

  • Paul, I've been following this thread because I'm having the same problem however it's with finale 2014d.  I've had this problem with the last two releases of VEP5.  The last version that worked is the October 2014 release.  Attached is a picture.
