  • When Legato isn't legato enough

What can I do to improve the legato?  The change between notes is too abrupt and I'm playing as smoothly as I can on the keyboard. (I'm using the strings in the "Cube".) I consider myself a "newbie" so please be as precise as possible. (Screen captures would be great!)

  • An audio example would help, but generally when in doubt, overlap the notes.

  • Just had another thought. Make sure that you are using Velocity xFade. If you don't, you'll get sudden jumps in tombre every time you play with a vastly different velocity.

  • I've never used velocity cross fades before. How do you set it up? (like I said, newbie.)

  • Look at the manual page 18. You will see a little box for xFade in the Advanced view that can either be checked, or not (on the perform tab). There are many other possibilities, but for now just look at that.

Check this box. Now all velocity information will be ignored, and all the notes will sound equal. Now you can use a continuous controller to create your dynamics, and your legato line won't sound jumpy.
