    What is the best strategy for organizing multiple sample libraries over four external SSDs?  

    Main computer: iMac 27 with 32Gb RAM; will likely use Mac Pro 2010 as VE PRO 5 slave --but not when using a laptop. I have purchased the OWC Thunderbay 4 Mini with four 6Gb 480Gb SSDs--Thunderbolt 2 on the 4-bay unit. iMac may only have Thunderbolt 1. No raid. Four separate drives. Speed tests on the SSDs seem to show about 280 MB/s write and 380 MB/s read as the fastet test on Blackmagic Speed tests.

    • Complete Vienna Symphonic Special Editions (Vols 1-4 plus)      • Native Instrumens Komplete    • East West Hollywood Orchestra (never used) and miscellaneous older Play libraries. • Will add other libraries or instruments both VSL and others. Not sure if I will keep the PLAY libraries if Play doesn't perform well.

    Traditionally, with one library, split the sections (strings, brass, woodwinds, percussion) on multiple drives. With multiple libraries, doing this may cause confusion in installing. Should I put VSL SE  (all volumes on one drive) and the East West on second, Native Instruments on thrid?  I know the libraries like Dimension Strings (future) and Hollywood Strings would want their own drives.

    Why the four SSDs? Will I be able to take my 4-bay SSD kit and with the iLok dongles use it on my main computer (iMac 27), and on a laptop? May not always want to use the Mac Pro. Looking for flexibility and for a here-are-my-libraries in a nicely organized fashion.

    I won't be able to hit this project for another month or so but I want to get back into writing orchestral music. Thanks everyone. (Is Tobias on this forum?)
