  • Vienna Ensemble Pro 5 interface not showing after clicking on the app

    Hi anyone and everyone.

Just wondering why when i click on VEP Pro 5 server before I launch Cubase, the server interface doesn't come up on the screen. I am on Windows 7 SP1.

After clicking on the application exe. I checked in the Task Manager to look at all active processes and i can see that VEP Pro 5 service (Not the App) is running but I have no GUI coming up. I am hoping to run VE Pro 5 as a 64-bit server on the one machine outside an older 32-bit version of Cubase 5 to utilize ram. When I launch Cubase I go to VST nstruments - Add Vienna Ensemble plugin - and the plug-in server interface does show up but it has nothing to connect to.

I tried uninstalling and reindstalling but to no avail. I'm wondering if there is something in Windows that is blocking the program from starting.

Has anyone else had this problem, and if so what could did do to fix it?

Thanks in advance for your time

    All the best.

    Simon

  • I'm having a similar issue, posted in another thread so if you get a response I'll try it too! I'm on windows 8.1

  • Hi Simon,

On Windows 7, click "START" => "All programs" and then go to "Vienna Ensemble PRO".

Launch the Vienna Ensemble PRO Server 32 and/64 bit, and you should be good to go.

If you "only" start the *.exe file, this will start the Standalone version of Vienna Ensemble PRO.

  • Hi Paul

Unfortunately it didn't work. I tried your instructions but for some reason it still doesn't show up even though the .exe process shows up in the task manager. Sorry to hassle you but hopefully we can sort this out. I already have tried uninstalling the program and reinstalling but that didn't work either.

    All the best

    Simon

  • Hello Simon,

Please send some screenshots to support@vsl.co.at, so that I can see what you see.

Starting the VE PRO Server is really simple, not sure what could go wrong there...

    Best,
    Paul

  • Hello,

Did this issue ever get resolved?

I have a QNAP NAS (TVS1282T) and have setup a VM to run VEPro 6.  Actually having had exactly the same issues as above (ie. VEP5 and VEP6 run in the background but with no GUI interface.  Task manager shows them as idle occupying about 2.5MB each, but further activity despite leaving them running for 2 to 3 hours).

I have tried a VM with WIndows 8, 8 Server, 10 and 10 server, and I get exactly the same each time.  VEP starts but no GUI.

I've been pulling my hair out over this for 3 days now, trying various things, but always the same result.

For info:  I have set up the VM with 8GB RAM and 100GB HDD space, with 2 i5 Intel cores.

    Any thoughts please??

    Thanks,

    Jonathan

  • Hi Simon,

Just wondering, did you manage to get a solution to this issue?

I have been trying to get Ensemble Pro 6 to run on a virtual instance with Windows (versions 8 and 10).  The software seems to start running inbackground but no GUI and no way to connect or communicate with it from another machine.

I have managed to run it under Windows 10 on VirtualBox running on a Mac Mini, to prove it can be done.  But as yet, I've no way to get it to run properly on a QNAP machine (I've tried it on 2 models QNAP TVS1282T and TS563).

    Best wishes,

    Jonathan

  • Any one ?!?!?!

  • Just in case you havent been sorted, try this!

"After almost 20 hours of trying to figure this thing out, all I had to do was move the eLicenser from the USB 3.0 slot to a USB 2.0 slot.  I had moved it because on my case, the USB 2.0 slots are on the top of the case, and I felt the back pane would be a safer place (but all the 2.0 slots were taken up back there).

I'm not sure, but this problem seems to be limited to certain motherboards, one of which is the Gigabyte Motherboard.  So apologies to East West, it was not the problem of their Installation Center that I installed yesterday."
