  • Dimension strings questions

    In the sample content it says on top:

    Open String – String changes always to the next open string

    Force G/D/A/E String (Violins); Force C/G/D/A String (Violas, Cellos) – Played on the respective string for approx. 1 1/2 octaves before changing

    But I don't see these choices in the sample content table.  ????  Or does every single articulation include these?

    Also, I don't see any harmonics in the Dimension Strings.  ???

  • Hi Alan,

    If you're looking in the preset tab you should load any small or Large set and it will load all the different matrix with open strings and Force G, etc

    RE= Regular

    OS=Openstrings

    G=Force G

    ...

    The matrix and patch menu are clearly organised by strings positions so you should see it easily.

    If you don't see this, your library may be incomplete. Check in the directory manager app and rescan the sample folders.

  • Thank you for your reply. The reason I asked is that I don't own the library, but I am thinking about buying it. So I wanted more information.

  • ha ok! I understand,

    So yes every articulations have the strings position options.

    And there's harmonics (staccato, sustain, tremolo and tremolo slow).

    This library is amazing! I use it in every projects.

    But you need a fast drive (SSD or fast HDD) because you need to run a lot more samples than regular libraries because each instruments in a section have its own samples.

  • Hi, on the Sample Content page the information on harmonics was missing for the violins. This is now corrected.

    Kind regards,David Ender

  • Thanks so much!  I have a new machine with two  SSD drives, 1 terabyte each, and 64G of RAM.  :-)

    best,

  • Hello Alen,

    glad your onboard with VSL libraries.

    Can't wait to hear your stuff

    Cheers

    Boris

  • Belking,

    DS is great for us orchestration teacher's! We can show the divisi, divisi with woodwinds and other's combination!

    DS needs time. Writing for 32 instruments needs alot of time!

  • Sure. At the moment I'm working with the Strings Special Editions libraries, and the complete Chamber and Appassionata strings. Lots of good things there too! :-)

    Three cheers for VSL!  :-)

    (Are you listening, Paul?)
